Love Protects

Before it was known as “Woke”, the early stages of that movement pushed the rest of the world into “tolerance” in the 80’s and 90’s, then insisted upon “acceptance” in the 00’s and 10’s. In the 20’s, the Woke are openly castigating the world into “affirming”, and anything other than full-on support is now labeled as “genocide”. Whenever there is a critique as to how the Woke religion doesn’t make logical sense – I saw a wonderful exchange on that by Matt Walsh – the Woke have shown themselves to shout down those who call their thinking into question – even in our great state’s legislature. Frequently, the accusation involves “phobic” at the end.

Naturally, that’s a misuse of the suffix, as nobody I know is afraid of them, as individual people. I love more than a handful of those who ascribe themselves to the Woke ideology – which is why I push so hard against it. False thinking leads to false living, and I want to love my people well.

As a result of engaging with thinking errors, I hope to highlight thinking that is in accord with nature, people, and God – and absolutely in accord with our own souls. Living as designed leads to peace in this life, as well as throughout eternity. Truth matters – not just theoretically, but personally.

Therefore, I may be accused of being homophobic. I’ll accept the label as long as it is understood that I am not afraid of the people who identify that way, but rather I am concerned as to where the ideology will eventually land, and who it will consume along the way. But I don’t think that those who shout, listen very well, and as the term is generally not understood in the way I define it (I don’t think I’m alone), I therefore don’t accept the term.

The religion of Woke will continue to consume people, as it has shown itself to do over the past forty years. Woke is ravenous, insatiably so, and increasingly picking up speed – look at the world stage over the last two years alone, making particular note of the whole “Rapid Onset Transgender Dysphoria”. Those cultures it has consumed are made up of real people – people who feel deeply and care strongly. All of those people are worth our protection and care, which includes the opportunity for them to hear the Truth. But the Truth is shouted down by the Woke, so that the people who could otherwise hear it, are not able to. Rational conversation is stopped by passionate assertions, and very real people lose. It's nothing new – Jesus wept over Jerusalem, for the exact same reason.

Matthew 23:37-39 (NLT) “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me. And now, look, your house is abandoned and desolate. For I tell you this, you will never see me again until you say, ‘Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the LORD!’ ”

It’s grief.  It's protection.  It's love.
